I know today was hard. I’m exhausted and I’ve only been awake like 10 hours.
This week isn’t a glimpse of our inevitable future, it’s just an example of our current moment.
What happens now is uncertain. But one thing I know is true: You can still create change. You can still appreciate beauty. You can still love.
OK, that’s three things.
I know the stakes are high. At this point, we’ve come far enough that there are others that can help if you need a break. So don’t be afraid to ask for help.
I had a friend tell me recently that a ritual she practices is taking a rock, squeezing it and giving it your anxieties that are causing you anxiety, and then tossing the rock into water — because the Earth is big enough to accept your worries and fears.
What I’m watching
Right now, our neighbors in Cuba are being hit by Major Hurricane Rafael, the 11th hurricane in this extremely damaging hurricane season.

In other news
The rock thing helps, trust me.
I’m trying to write a lot more lately, and trust my judgement for elevating what matters, no matter if I can make a difference personally or not. It’s taking work, and I’m so grateful for your support.
They want you to feel powerless and surrender and let them trample everything and you are not going to let them. You are not giving up, and neither am I. The fact that we cannot save everything does not mean we cannot save anything and everything we can save is worth saving.
